No Limits!

No Limits!

No limits! Two negative words. Usually, we do not like to hear the word “no”, and we do not enjoy having “limits”. But when you put the two words together, they became something very powerful. They then change their meaning. When it comes to evangelism and benevolence, the church has no limits. Now please understand me, we must stay within the commands of God; but when we stay within those limitations, the possibilities are unlimited. Jesus told his disciples to, “Go into all the world…”, but how? Any way you can! Just go! When we go, who do we go to? Everyone! How do we tell the world the gospel? Well, that’s where there are no limits. We are able to door knock, hand out flyers and bulletins to those on the street, send a card to someone you know or just met, go on a mission trip, feed the hungry, clothe the naked, visit those sick and in prison, and even pay the rent for that individual who is struggling to make ends meet. If we can think it or dream it, we can do it. God has and will open doors of opportunity; we simply need a shot of enthusiasm to take hold of those opportunities.

The world is hurting. Because of sin, the world is sick and dying and headed straight for a place prepared for the devil and his angels. The world needs us. They are counting on us to show them the gospel and how to be saved. If we do not go, who will? When you consider the four soils mentioned in Luke 8, three out of the four souls accepted the Word of God; but only one soil remained faithful and produced fruit. There was only one soil that rejected the Word of God, and that was the hard ground. They used to tell us in preaching school, “There is one person in the world searching for the Truth, go find that individual.” They were simply trying to motivate us to keep going and forget about all of the rejections. There is one person searching for answers; find them!

Too often, we limit ourselves when there are no limitations. We limit the work of the church when we complain about not having enough money, too much work, not enough time, not knowing what to do, or even not caring about the lost. These are obstacles that must be overcome. How much money is one soul worth? If we spend all the money in the world in the effort to save one soul, it is worth it. The work of the church is edification, evangelism, and benevolence. We spend time edifying one another at worship but not enough time in evangelizing and benevolence. There is work that needs to be done. Not only is the world counting on us, but the Lord also. Unless we take it upon ourselves to take the gospel to the lost, then the job will not get done. If we wish to be active in evangelism and benevolence, we must first give ourselves to God and love Him with all of our heart, then plan to give cheerfully and sacrificially, and finally develop a love for the lost souls of mankind. Once we have followed those steps, we will be enthusiastic to help the world find it’s Savior. We must also remember that if we can think it, we can do it. There are no limitations!
