God had a job for a man called Jonah. "Go warn your enemies in Ninevah. They're headed for trouble," God said. But Jonah didn't want to help his enemies. So he escaped on a ship.
There was a terrible storm. "It's my fault," Jonah told the frightened sailors. "Throw me out." When they threw Jonah out, the storm stopped.
God sent a big fish to rescue Jonah. The fish swallowed Jonah and kept him safe. After three days and nights, the fish spit Jonah onto dry land. This time, Jonah ran straight to Ninevah to do what God told him to do!
